Fljótsdalur Expedition – A Journey Through Forest, Stories and Reindeer

Just a short drive away lies Skriðuklaustur, where two worlds meet: the ruins of a 16th-century monastery, and the impressive stone manor once home to one of Iceland’s most beloved writers, Gunnar Gunnarsson. Walking through the rooms he designed and lived in, visitors get a glimpse into both Icelandic literary history and the man's remarkable life. We end the journey with a visit to the Reindeer Park at Vínland, a unique spot where East Iceland’s wildest residents become a little more familiar.
