East Highlanders is a family-owned and operated tour company based in East Iceland.
We offer private day tours, shore excursions, custom tours and pre-booked transport and transfers for travellers who want a more personal way to experience the region.
Our tours are shaped around local knowledge, flexible pacing, weather conditions and the interests of our guests.
East Iceland is our home. We know the roads, the fjords, the stories and the quiet places that make this part of Iceland special. Whether you are arriving by cruise ship, staying in Egilsstaðir or travelling through the Eastfjords, our goal is to help you experience the region in a safe, comfortable and memorable way.

Our vehicles
East Highlanders operates private tours and transfers in comfortable vehicles suited for East Iceland roads, weather and travel conditions.
The vehicle used for each tour depends on group size, route, season, road conditions and availability. For smaller private tours we may use a 4x4 vehicle or super jeep, while larger private groups can travel in a spacious passenger van.
All tours are private, so you travel with your own group and guide — never as part of a large bus tour.

Vídó is the original East Highlanders vehicle — the one that has been with us since we first began offering private driving and guiding services in East Iceland. A modified 4x4 built for more demanding roads, highland routes and adventure-style private tours. Around here, it is more than just a vehicle; it is part of the East Highlanders story.

A comfortable 4x4 vehicle for private tours, transfers and scenic routes in East Iceland. This vehicle is well suited for smaller private groups who want a relaxed and personal travel experience with extra road capability when conditions require it. The vehicle also has two compact rear seats with limited legroom, best suited for children or shorter transfers.
